• Colin Blackburne - Senior Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation Advisor
Colin began working for St Mary's Hospital in Paddington before moving to St Charles in November 2000. Colin's main interest is in the functional rehabilitation of injury. He currently works as a part time physiotherapist for a first division football club, and most of his spare time is taken up undertaking this role. Colin was also physiotherapist for Wales Universities during the British Universities Games in 2000. Colin also spent 6 months working for the Football Association of Wales at their Centre of Excellence, educating 11-16 year olds on the importance of diet, stretching, and appropriate fitness training techniques.
Colin graduated with a degree in Leisure and Tourism Management before undertaking a Master's Diploma in Sports Therapy. From there he pursued his interest of injury rehabilitation and undertook a 2 year course with the Football Association and graduated in July 2000.
Colin is responsible for the running of the fitness suite and all its services and encourages as much feedback from members as possible.
• Kevin Bridger - Health and Fitness Advisor
Kevin began working at St Charles in July 2001 and has proved an excellent addition to the team.
Kevin graduated in 1997 with BSc (Hons) in Exercise and Health Science. He has a keen interest in rugby, boxing and athletics. Since graduating Kevin has progressed in the industry through working on the gym floor and taking exercises classes. He is constantly trying to update his knowledge and has undertaken courses in sports massage, GP exercise referral, nutrition and weight management and BAWLA, as well as gaining valuable experience during his 5 years in contact with people in the health and fitness industry.
In his spare time Kevin has numerous personal training clients and also undertakes an older age group exercise class.
• Chris Thompson - Health and Fitness Advisor
Chris is the newest member of the team having joined in December 2001.
Chris holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Rehabilitation & Injury Prevention. His additional qualifications include, diplomas in Sports Therapy, Reflexology, Sports & Remedial massage, and Gym & Fitness Instruction. His interests lie primarily within the areas of Sports rehabilitation, injury management, injury prevention, and Sports and remedial massage.
During the past few years Chris has worked as a Sports and remedial masseur, and has twice provided athletic health care and sports massage for the Multiple Sclerosis society at the London marathon. He has gained further experience whilst working as a rehabilitation therapist for a physiotherapy and sports injury clinic.
When not working as a health and fitness advisor Chris enjoys participating in a variety of sporting activities including, rugby, water skiing, mountain biking, and fitness training.
